Sound Track: The Neon Tigers – ‘Out Of Control’
If there’s a local band who are hot right now it’s without doubt The Neon Tigers. Their piano driven classic rock sound is a simple enough formula, but their songs are packed with melody and energy in equal doses. When frontman Rich Peacock dons his double-necked (drunken e-bay purchase) guitar the band’s sound is mid-70s Led Zep and Queen, sat behind his keys as with this fantastic set opener ‘Out Of Control’ it’s more same era Billy Joel and Elton John. Regardless of era or influence a great song is a great song, and whilst this version doesn’t quite capture the impact it has as a live opener, it’s still a great song… Right!?
The Neon Tigers’ Rich Peacock on ‘Out Of Control’…
With this song I wanted it to sound big so we could use it as a set/album opener. It’s a four-track recorder bedroom recording, but I wanted it to have the feel of a big production, so a lot of overdubbing went on so that the guitars and harmonies sounded as big as possible. The subject matter is all in the title, it’s about being out of control! It’s a lot different to previous songs that I have written because it’s more melodic but it felt good to try out a different way of doing things. This was the first Neon Tigers track and it made me want to write more.

The Neon Tigers are one of the best local bands i’ve heard around Bournemouth. They’ve got a certain happiness that just shouts at you with every song, and of course the funky clothing they happen to wear to different gigs!!
I’m not one to like bands straight off, it usually takes me a while to get into the sound of a band, but this was a band that did it for me with just the first song!! They are amazing and i hope everyone reading this will vote and agree with my comment.
Give The Neon Tigers a chance because you’ll see they’re more then worth it!! Oooh and if you ever attend a gig keep yourself upfront of the stage to text out Gary [the bass players] cooking, unfortunately as i’m on lent i have not yet been able to try it but i’ve heard its pretty damn good (:
Keep Rocking!!
