First up, a massive thanks you to everyone who voted for their favourite local band to play at this year’s Oxjam Bournemouth Takeover Event, and to the huge number of bands and djs who have applied to play. We received nearly 2000 votes, with many bands creating facebook events and online campaigns to encourage votes. Most importantly (and the main reason for doing this) it raised a vast amount of awareness for what we’re doing. Clearly, the more people who are aware of what we’re doing the more money we can potentially raise, so thank you to everyone for making the effort.

So, who are the five bands who are guaranteed a slot at the Takeover Event? Congratulations to The Pretty Marx, PR5, Kinnie The Explorer, New Volunteer and Hot Vamp Club for receiving the most votes and now have a confirmed slot at the Festival. Obviously we can also see those other bands/artists who made maximum effort and just fell short, and this will be taken into consideration when choosing the 30 or so other artists to play on the day. Those other bands/artists/djs will be contacted by the end of July, so please be patient whilst we consider all applications and liase with venues and promoters to ensure we put on the best event possible.
