Four band Easter feast!

Four band Easter feast!

Well, that was a bit of a Good Friday. Thanks a million to all those who came to The Gander, and to those who took advantage of the £2 offer – good on ya! One band for less than a pint is a steal, to get Ethel, Happy Traumas, Toupe and Rolling Dog plus djs for that money was down right ridiculous.

Obviously the intention was to ensure Ethel (pictured) kicked off in front of a decent sized crowd, and the fact that half the night's audience were there by the time they started showed that the offer worked. Ethel loved it!

Happy Traumas were loving it too. Once again there was a vibrant, friendly and upbeat atmosphere, something perfectly suited to these guys who were clearly set on enjoying themselves. Happy days!

Numbers peaked to see Toupe's entrance. It had been a while since these guys had played in Bournemouth, and many people had clearly made the effort to come down specifically to see the talents of Grant, Karl and Jay. A review of a Toupe performance will wait a day or two for a hometown gig at The Joiners, but for those who couldn't make it, or those who could and would like a repeat performance, here's a couple of videos of some Toupe action. Max volume recommended...

'Werk Jerk'

'Fuckin'

On tour to promote their new single, 'Fire! Fire! Fire!', Rolling Dog made the short trip along the coast after selling out The Wedgewood Rooms, their home patch. In Portsmouth these guys are local heroes, they're now set to start making big waves elsewhere – we wish them luck and success.

We really do appreciate everyone's efforts who came down to The Gander, bands and fans alike, on this Bank Holiday Friday. We've heard Solid Air's Perico - curated Exploding Plastic Inevitable was another success which is great news, we're hoping not to clash with future EPi's which are clearly living up to expectations.

Our next event at The Gander on Saturday May 5th deserves another mention. A Bank Holiday all-dayer in aid of Julia's House, a Broadstone-based children's hospice who care for life-limited and life-threatened children throughout Dorset. A £4 entry will go straight to Julia's House and will allow entry to a ten band feast. Acts confirmed are Dutch Husband, Numidian Wish, Language,Timothy!, Little Boat, The A+E Line, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Slate Caverns, Mezzotints, True Swamp Neglect and Betika.

Proceedings kick off at midday, with Dutch Husband first on stage at 1pm. We will also be selling albums on the day for £4 (£2 going to Julia's House), featuring a track from each band playing on the day. We have all the tracks in now – we may put the price up... it's sounding superb with many bands supplying a previously unheard song specially recorded for the album. We hope to see you there!
