Siobhan’s Shebang!
This Saturday at The Portman in Boscombe, a fundraiser is taking place in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The all day event has been organised by Siobhan Ferguson who has put together a superb line-up of local acts, made up of friends and bands whose music she has enjoyed over the last thirty years. For those who can’t make it along in the evening, the live music starts at 1.30pm with a matinee set from Self Abuse. Nice. The £5 entry price will all be going to Macmillans, and there’s an abundance of fantastic prizes available in the raffle – who couldn’t resist an all you can eat carvery with The Subatomics and C-30s? Siobhan sent us a few words about the event…
“The event is in memory of my husband Malcolm Ferguson who was a punk back in the day. He succumbed to lung cancer two years ago, and when we knew it was hopeless it was the Macmillan Nurses who helped us. They were just like the cavalry coming in with a no nonsense, down to earth approach. Listening to what we wanted and needed… easing his pain and restoring his dignity in his last days. The bands are all giving their time for free, as is Al from Uncle Pablos Music Workshop who is doing the sound. The Portman have given us their room with no charge. Bill Dew also designed and printed the artwork for free.”
