ToneFest 2010 – Cancelled
It has just been announced that this year’s ToneFest Festival has been cancelled due to poor advance ticket sales. Hopefully this won’t be the start of a string of festival misfortune, but perhaps a sign of economic uncertainty. Festival organiser Tone has issued a statement regarding the postponement…
“With a heavy heart and an empty wallet, I have been forced to cancel this year’s ToneFest Festival.
The cost of running the event is massive and despite extensive advertising and the wonderful efforts of so many, ticket sales are just miles away from where they need to be. After to speaking to other organisers of similar events, they too are reporting a huge reduction in demand compared to previous years and many other events are looking to be heading for the same fate, which is very sad but a sign of the economic times we’re in.
I remain passionate to the model of a festival aimed at music lovers, who want a small personal festival with good music, comfy chairs, nice loos and a safe fun environment for their children to play. I just think money is tight for so many at the moment.
To all those that have done so much to help me, I am TRUELY grateful. The best part of running these events is the wonderful people I have met. You know who you are and let’s keep in touch! I am so sorry to them and everyone else that has made arrangements or given up so much of their time.
I’m off now to concentrate on other things and will hopefully be back soon with something smaller for the Youth Cancer Trust. I promised to help them and help them I will.
Everyone who has purchased a ticket will be FULLY refunded within the next 10 days and will receive an email with an offer for a reduced priced ticket to the Endorse it in Dorset Festival.”
