Sound Track: Dildano – ‘Theme From WTNB’

For most of 2009 Dildano’s ‘Theme From WTNB’ was the singular track on the bh one myspace page. We logged on at least three times daily just to hear the song, to brighten up our day. A groove of Earth Wind And Fire proportions clashing majestically with un-pc tastic lyrics of equally colossal dimensions, “I’m going out tonight you muther fucker, oooh… come to mine and partaaay!!!” From the opening seconds ‘Theme From WTNB’ has the lot – I dare you to listen to this track and avoid flailing around. This shit should be number one in the charts, it’s got groove, it’s got meaning… Classic twisted disco. Classic fried funk. Classic Dildano. And they say it better…

Dildano on ‘Theme From WTNB’…

‘Theme from Where’s The Nearest Bar?’ is an audaciously reprehensible white-boy funk effort devised as an ironic dig at generic nightclubs and their moronic clientele. Symbolically launched by the first of many cowbells, this piece quickly ricochets off of Morrissey’s self loathing and Zappa’s ironic detachment, accidentally catches a glimpse of Magma’s awkward majesty, ruins it with a crude Chili Peppers impression and ends up slouched in a corner trying to pump its own stomach with the kind of synthesizer you probably can’t take on a plane any more. The album version features a voicemail of LOLossal proportions from which the hook was plagiarised. Satirical intentions aside, it’s in 4/4 and it says “Party” a lot… Flail around sir!!
